Features And Amenities

The Haven Atop Rainbow mountain provides a great combination of feeling secluded yet not isolated.  It sits on more than 3 heavily wooded acres in a small private community.  And it is literally at the top of the mountain.  All roads leading to the cabin are paved and easily identified.  A separate paved parking pad is provided at the top of the somewhat steep paved driveway to the cabin where you can park your car for easy access to the cabin.  If you like to ride motorcyles on the areas many winding scenic roads, the top parking pad would make a great place to park your trailer.  The Haven, with it’s truly amazing panoramic mountain top views and stunning sunsets, is wonderful place to relax and stay put.  It is also just mlnutes away from restaurants, shops, outdoor activities, apple orchards and unique apple houses, scenic drives and much more.  Gilmer County is the Apple Capitol of Georgia, and Ellijay hosts an annual Apple Festival two weekends in early October.  Many other festivals and events are hosted in the numerous small towns that are only minutes away.  The town known for it’s antique and specialty shops and for its scenic railway, Blue Ridge, is only 15 miles north.  The Haven is almost midway between Fort Mountain State Park that has great hiking trails that lead to panoramic views and only 30 minutes away from our favorite, Amicalola State Park.  Amicalola State Park has many great hiking trails, and is near the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, but it also has trails hiking along Georgia’s tallest waterfall.  Dinner at the lodge at the top of that mountain is realiably good, and the Friday night seafood buffet is a treat.  The lovely town of Dahlonega, with its shops and restaurants is also just a short drive to the east.  If you enjoy shopping outlet malls, there is a high end Premium Outlet Mall about an hour away in Dawsonville.

In the large custom bathroom on the main level, enjoy the stone tiled shower or relax and luxuriate in the large (enough for two) corner spa tub while jets of water soothe your body.   In this bathroom, as in the other two, thick luxurious  bath towels, hand towels and face cloths are provided, as are specialty soaps and shampoo/conditioners.  Also provided are hair dryers with attachable diffusers in under sink cabinets.  The large bath on the upper level has a large beveled glass mirror from the ceiling to the tops of two of the three cabinets.  The large bath on the lower level also has all these amenities.

In the bedroom closet on each level, find two thick terry cloth robes to wear to and from the large 6 person spa/hot tub located outside on it’s own private deck near the garden on the lower level.   Rope lights on the outside stairs from the main deck to the lower deck provide just enough light to show the way, while still permitting you to experience the spectacular sunsets or the starry night skies and the scattered lights from the valleys below while you relax amidst the woods on the mountain top.  Hooks from which to hang the robes or towels are on the post nearest the hot tub. The hot tub has a recliner and seats of varying depths to accommodate anyone’s height and size.  The hot tub has many water jets that can be adjusted from stillness up through a rousing bubble.  You can also use the underwater lights if you choose.  Bromine, not chlorine is used to maintain the water purity.

The bedroom on the main floor has a modern cabin décor, with bedside lamps with climbing bears and mica shades, 2 framed works of original art depicting rustic themes, a chest of drawers for your clothing or personal items and a luggage rack in the closet.  The king sized bed has high thread count sheets, a lovely quilted  coverlet and a down blanket for cool weather.

The very large  bedroom on the top level has a king sized bed with high thread count sheets, a quilted coverlet and a down blanket for cool weather.  There is a huge walk in closet, with luggage racks and ample chests of drawers to store your clothing or personal items.  There is a remote controlled flat screen tv and a dvd that can be viewed from the bed.   Framed original works of art hang on the walls.  Relax and read by the light from a Tiffany style floor lamp next to the plush microfiber recliner or just gaze at the forest through the double glass doors that lead to a tree top private deck.  Sit on the two person wood glider and have a cup of coffee or tea as you watch the sunrise or have a glass of wine as you enjoy truly spectacular sunsets later that evening.

Walk down the hallway from the upper level bedroom toward the wall of glass that provides a breathtaking view, and you will find yourself in a very special place, the Poet’s Loft.   There is no place more conducive to a good daydream or nap.  You can recline on the day bed on one of the pillows or a neck roll covered in artisanal fabrics from Central America.  From here you have an outstanding view of the sky, the tree tops the valley below and the numerous mountain ranges in the distance.  And, of the sunsets.  Or you can borrow one of the books or magazines from the bookshelf and read as you sit in the glider and prop your feet on the foot stool.

The lower level of The Haven is it’s own private apartment like suite, with a living room bedroom, private bathroom and a large porch with wood Adirondack chairs and tables and a two person oak swing.  In the living room there is a leather sofa with two built in recliners, a really large screen tv,  dvd, a game boy (bring your own games), a drop leaf table, a wall of bookshelves with books and magazines to borrow or cards and board games to play.  There is also a kitchenette area with a microwave and an under the counter refrigerator.  On the wall above the long bookcases are framed maps of the regional mountains shown in high relief.  From the king sized bed in it’s private bedroom, furnished with designer rustic furniture and luxurious bedding, look out double windows to the mountain view to the west or another window to the deep forest to the north.
